•We report the synthesis and characterization of C60, ferrocene and porphyrin triads.•The compounds are potentially useful for studying the electron-transfer processes.•The three components of the triads are connected each other by triple bonds.
The 2,12 pyrrole positions of meso-tetraphenylporphyrin were functionalized through triple carbon–carbon bonds by ferrocene and C60 giving new electron donor-acceptor triads which have been characterized and studied by photophysical methods.
