Stannylated polymers based on the polyfluorene backbone have been synthesized and used in the Stille reaction as recyclable reagents, minimizing the generation of toxic tin residues.
Graphical abstractNew stannylated polyfluorenes have been synthesized. They can be used as reagents in a green Stille reactions since they can be recycled, leading to coupling products with reduced tin contamination.Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slideHighlights► We have synthesized polymeric stannanes based on the polyfluorene backbone. ► These tin-containing polyfluorenes are useful reagents in the Stille reaction. ► The polymeric stannanes can be recovered and reused. ► The tin content in the coupling products is lower than that obtained by conventional separation methods.
