•We describe the preparation and the characterization of a heterogeneous bimetallic catalyst: Pd–Cu/C.•The use of heterogeneous bimetallic catalyst for organic synthesis is rather uncommon.•This work significantly expands the area heterogeneous bimetallic catalyst for organic synthesis.•The Sonogashira–Click sequence features short reaction times thanks to the use of MW heating.•The reaction conditions feature inexpensive reagents and environmentally friendly solvents.
This paper describes the development of one-pot sequential Sonogashira–Click and Click–Heck reactions by using Pd–Cu/C as a heterogeneous multi-task catalyst for the synthesis of heterocyclic structures. Details of the optimization studies and the substrate scope are discussed. These methodologies allow the preparation of functionalized triazoles in simple experimental conditions with inexpensive reagents.
