A new heteroannular cyclopalladated ferrocene derivative [PdCl{C5H4FeC5H4CH2NCH–C4H3S}(PPh3)] (6) was synthesized and characterized by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, high resolution mass spectroscopy, and its molecular structure was further confirmed by X-ray crystal structure determination. According to the crystal structure, the palladium atom is bound to the unsubstituted Cp ring, showing the four-coordinate structure typical of palladium complexes. A preliminary application of these novel cyclopalladated complexes in Mizoroki–Heck reaction is also to be demonstrated in this paper.
Graphical abstractThis paper describing the synthesis of cyclopalladated ferrocenylimines shows that the unsubstituted Cp ring was palladated, resulting in a novel heteroannular cyclopalladated ferrocenylimine. In addition, preliminary application of this novel cyclopalladated complex in Heck reaction was also demonstrated in this paper.Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slide
