Abstract
The metathesis reactions of alkali metal hexafluoroalkoxides with GaCl3 or InCl3 result in the formation and isolation of group 1/13 “ate” complexes. The stoichiometry of the reaction and the nature of the alkali metal used determines the structural and physical characteristics of the complexes. A variety of inter- and intramolecular interactions give rise to some unexpected and interesting solid-state structures.
