Abstract
The bifunctional nature of Ph2PCCPh has been exploited to prepare the fluoride-containing heterometallic clusters [MF2(CO)2(μ-η1:η2-PPh2CCPh)2{Co2(CO)6}2] [M = Ru, Os]; fluoride dissociation occurs on thermolysis (at 50 °C) of the ruthenium derivative while no reaction occurred with the osmium analogue.
