Abstract
The focus of this review concerns the reactivity patterns of metal-cyclopentadienyl (indenyl, fluorenyl and cycloheptatrienyl) bonds. The advances in metal-carbon(η5) insertion chemistry have demonstrated that the Ï-bonding character provides additional reaction opportunities which are not shown by metal-alkyl compounds and these differences are highlighted.
