Abstract
•Twenty-three microsatellites of Jatropha curcas were developed and characterized.•Polymorphism was evaluated in 50 individuals collected from Guatemala.•SSRs averaged high levels of observed (0.684) and expected (0.653) heterozygosities.•These markers will be useful for for population genetic studies in J. curcas.
