Abstract
•Comprehensive 5-alkylresorcinol profiles in eight Iris species were provided.•Three new veryl long-chain resorcinols were observed.•The structures were tentatively confirmed by synthetic standards.•Iris species can be classified into several groups according to resorcinolic lipid profile.
