Abstract

•This first study about secondary metabolites in Dictyota caribaea provided three prenylated guaiane diterpenes.•The crude extract and one of the minor metabolites purified showed anti-feeding activity.•The chemotaxonomic relevance of the identified compounds within the genus Dictyota was discussed.
