Abstract
•438 ISSR markers sorted accessions of five Luffa species into three clusters.•Luffa hermaphrodita clustered with cultivated Luffa acutangula and wild L. acutangula var. amara.•Population structure analysis differentiated L. acutangula and aegyptiaca into two populations.•Moderate level of gene diversity was observed among different accessions.
