Abstract
•Fifty compounds were obtained from Gentiana scabra.•Some compounds can update the current chemotaxonomic profile of Gentianaceae.•This study warrants useful chemical markers for the authentication.•This study is the first comprehensive chemical investigation of G. scabra rhizomes and roots.
