Abstract
Research highlights► The taxonomic classification of Melicope pteleifolia has been a matter of debate for many years. ► Our study on M. pteleifolia led to the isolation of seven benzopyrans and three furoquinoline alkaloids. ► The components found in our study were similar to those in genus Melicope but different from Evodia. ► Our results support the move of the title species from Evodia to Melicope.
