Abstract

A study has been made of features of the formation of soluble polyelectrolyte complexes between carboxymethyl ethers of cellulose and dextran with basic proteins. The extent to which the degree of polymerization and degree of substitution of polysaccharides may influence the concentration of protein protease inhibitor in polyelectrolyte complexes has been investigated. The significant influence of protein-protein interaction in polyelectrolyte complexes on the properties of the protease inhibitor is discussed. Stabilization of protein macromolecules is attributed to their interaction with polyanions.
