•We achieved a highest hole mobility.•We made single crystals by Droplet Pinned Crystallization (DPC) method.•We compare the devices on the basis of grown single crystal step heights.•We observe the ambipolar transport phenomenon in the devices.
Organic field-effect transistors are fabricated with the help of an active organic material 6,13-bis(tri-isopropylsilylethynyl) pentacene (TIPS-pentacene). The conduction parameters such as mobility due to electrons, holes, threshold voltage, sub-threshold swing, the maximum density of surface states and standard deviation are calculated. The average mobility due to electron in the single crystal having concentrations 0.8 mg/ml, 0.4 mg/ml is 0.206 cm2/V s and 2.452 cm2/V s. The average hole mobility of a crystal having concentrations 0.8 mg/ml, 0.4 mg/ml is 0.25 cm2/V s and 2.42 cm2/V s. The performance of the devices is investigated with respect to surface morphology. The crystals are prepared by the droplet pinned crystallization (DPC) method.
