Abstract

A novel coordination polymer [Cd(4-tzbc)2]n (1) [H(4-tzbc) = 4-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-ylmethyl)benzoic acid] has been isolated by direct combination of unsymmetrical semi-rigid 4-tzbc with cadmium nitrate by the solvothermal method. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction study reveals that complex 1 exhibits a novel 3D rutile type framework with 1D channel. Thermal analysis suggests that 1 is of high thermostability at 345 °C. The photoluminescence of complex 1 reveals a cadmium ion disturbed ligand emission.
