Abstract
—This review examines how protein misfolding pathways can be used to make self-assembling rod-like nanofibers. The development of these fibers and their potential application as protein-based, hybrid and functional materials is then discussed. Comparisons are also drawn between protein fibers and carbon nanotubes.
