Abstract

The particle size distributions of slag powder were investigated by Laser Scatter equipment. The influence of particle fractions of slag powder on the compressive strength of slag cement composed of 50% slag powder and 50% Portland cement was also studied by the method of grey correlation analysis. The results indicated that the volume fraction of particles 5–10 μm had a maximum positive effect on the mortar compressive strength of slag cement at 7 d and the volume fraction of particles 10–20 μm had a maximum positive effect on the mortar compressive strength at 28 d, whereas the volume fraction of particles larger than 20 μm had a negative effect on the mortar compressive strength at 7 and 28 d.
