Spinel LiMn2O4 nanorods were prepared by a rapid two steps process. Powder XRD results revealed the formation of cubic crystal structured LiMn2O4 phase. FE-SEM images clearly showed the formation of well defined one-dimensional (1-D) nanorods. The electrical conductivity of spinel LiMn2O4 nanorods was evaluated by analyzing the measured impedance data and found to be 1.81×10−4 S cm−1 at 303 K. Dielectric studies showed that the LiMn2O4 nanorods exhibit high dielectric constant and it is found to increase with increase in temperature. The electric modulus studies revealed the non-Debye nature of the LiMn2O4 nanorods. Further, the electrochemical performance of the fabricated Swagelok-type lithium cells using the prepared LiMn2O4 nanorods was investigated. The charge–discharge studies of the fabricated Swagelok-type cell showed that the spinel LiMn2O4 nanorods exhibit good cycleability in the voltage range 3.3–4.4 V.
