Abstract
PLZT (8/69/31) ceramics with high transparence, dense microstructure and significant electrically controlled light scattering performance were prepared by a hot-press method. The XRD patterns indicate it is crystallized into a single perovskite with no other phase detected. PLZT ceramics exhibit a high transmittance, greater than 96% at 632.8 nm with a thickness of 1.0 mm, neglecting the high reflection losses. The contrast ratio (IE/I0) is greatly enhanced by a combination of two wafers instead of a single one. Moreover, the contrast ratio of two wafers with a thickness of 1.0 mm is larger than that of single one with a thickness of 2.0 mm.
