Abstract
Nanometer carbon black (CB) grafted with polyvinyl alcohol was obtained by surface modification, and its size was about 60 nm. In the ultrasonic field, the composite lacquer coatings with different contents of CB nanoparticles were prepared by mechanical agitation. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), anodic polarization curves, immersion measurements and salt fog tests were used to evaluate the corrosion performances of the composite coatings applied on steel in NaCl solution. It was observed that composites coatings with 1 wt% CB nanoparticles reduced drastically the corrosion rate of steel.
