Abstract
Titanium dioxide nanopowders, doped with different amount of Fe3+ ions (0.3–5.0 mass%), were synthesized by acid-catalyzed sol–gel method in a non-aqueous medium. The obtained powders were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDX) and UV/vis spectroscopy. Degradation reaction of crystal violet (CV) azo dye is used to test the photocatalytic activity of iron doped titanium dioxide nanopowders. The results are correlated with previous investigations about the structure and physico-chemical characteristics of obtained nanopowders.
