Abstract
The mechanical properties of refractory castables both at room and high temperatures are essential parameters for the selection of the operating conditions and the structural design of their components. Four spinel-containing matrix compositions in the high-alumina region of the Al2O3–MgO–CaO ternary diagram were selected and prepared by using dolomite additions. The creep behaviour of these matrices was studied in the temperature interval ranging from 1000 to 1400 °C. A correlation between the microstructural phase evolution and the creep behaviour with temperature was established.
