Abstract
Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) is a very versatile material that can be used in a number of applications due to its unique combination of properties. This paper reviews typical h-BN qualities and their applications. The use of h-BN as a composite material with zirconium oxide for side dams in thin-strip casting is looked at in particular detail. Recent results for corrosion, wear and high-temperature compressive stress of MYCROSINT® SO are presented here for the first time.
