•A simple ultrasonic chemical method to synthesis the FeCo-decorated reduced graphene oxide (RGO) composite.•The graphene scrolls induced by magnetic interaction were observed in the composite.•The composite has the magnetic property and exhibits excellent adsorption ability for Rhodamine-B.
The composite of FeCo and reduced graphene oxide (RGO) was synthesized via a facile ultrasonic chemical method. FeCo nanoparticles were firmly dispersed on the surfaces of RGO nanosheets. Interestingly, the graphene scrolls were also observed in the composite. The composite exhibited excellent magnetic property with specific saturation magnetization (Ms) of 78.06 emu/g and strong adsorption for Rhodamine-B. The comprehensive properties made the composite have great potential applications in water treatment.
