Abstract
Results of DC field poling and second harmonic generation experiments on a thin film of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) polymer doped with the dye molecule (3-(1,1-dicyanothenyl)-1-phenyl-4, 5-dihydro-1H-pryazole) (DCNP) are reported. The temporal variation of SHG signal upon application of static (DC) electric field at the temperature close to the glass transition Tg of PMMA establishes rapidly, within 66 s. A large value of second order NLO susceptibility dpp(-2Ï;Ï,Ï) of 52 ± 8 pm/V at 1064.2 nm fundamental wavelength was observed. Its possible origin is proposed and discussed.
