Abstract

The oxazalone derivatives were synthesized and their optical properties were studied and the results are presented. Also the complex of DNA with a surfactant CTMA (DNA–CTMA) was also functionalized with the synthesized oxazalone derivatives. The third order nonlinear optical susceptibilities of studied compounds were investigated in solutions using the degenerate four wave mixing (DFWM) method at 532 nm wavelength. We found that the values of third order nonlinear optical susceptibilities (χ〈3〉) for oxazalone derivatives with DNA–CTMA are higher than for pure oxazalone derivatives.

► Optical properties of oxazalone derivatives have been studied. ► Nonlinear optical properties of oxazalone derivatives with and without DNA–CTMA have been studied. ► Biomaterials for nonlinear optics.
