Abstract
⺠In a silica-based fibre preform, erbium ions environment can be crystallized. ⺠Phosphorus preferentially coordinates to Er3+ ions to form regular cages around it. ⺠Er3+ spectroscopic features are associated to ErPO4 crystallites.
