Abstract
LaF3 nanoparticles were grown in aqueous solutions containing different surfactants to realize stronger absorption cross-sections and energy transfer to the optical center. Benzoic acid and phthalic acid were selected as the surfactants attached to the nanoparticles. RE-doped LaF3 samples prepared with these surfactants showed enhanced emissions due to energy transfer from the organic ligand.
