Abstract
Heat transfer characteristics in 300-315Â mm dia. CsI(Na) crystal growth were studied using experimental methods and numerical simulation. The temperature across the crystal and other furnace elements was measured by a pyrometer, and the obtained results were compared to thermocouple data. A numerical model was suggested to make a conjugated analysis of heat exchange, melt and gas flows in the growth setup with the account of radiative heat transport in the semitransparent crystal and melt media. The theoretical predictions were compared with the obtained experimental data.
