Abstract

Rare earth elements La3+ and Gd3+ doped (Y0.995Ce0.005)2SiO5 phosphors were prepared using the MS&Sol-gel method. The effect of the dopants on the structure and luminescent properties of the samples were analyzed. XRD patterns of the samples indicated that the phase transition temperature from the low temperature phase (X1) to the high temperature phase (X2) of Y2SiO5 increased with the doping concentration of La3+ and Gd3+. After annealing at high temperature for a long time, La3+ and Gd3+ doped X2-(Y0.995Ce0.005)2SiO5 were obtained, and the photo luminescent spectra was similar to that of the samples prepared by solid state method. Both PL and CL intensities of La3+ and Gd3+ doped X2-(Y0.995Ce0.005)2SiO5 prepared by MS&Sol-gel method were higher than that of the samples prepared by solid state method. La3+ and Gd3+ doping were useful in increasing the luminescent intensities of X2-(Y0.995Ce0.005)2SiO5. SEM showed that the particle size, dispersion degree, and particle shape of X2-(Y0.995Ce0.005)2SiO5 were also improved by the doping of La3+ and Gd3+.
