Abstract
The non-linear optical properties of the planar cluster [MoS4Cu4I2(py)6] doped in PMMA (Polymethyl Methacrylate) were investigated in this paper using the Z-scan technique at the wavelength of 532Â nm and the pulse width of 8Â ns (FWHM). The sample demonstrated self-defocusing effect with the characteristic of the thermal effect. The Z-scan experiments with different input energy and pulse duration were carried out to confirm the dominant role of thermal effect in determining the optical non-linearity of sample. The optical limiting experiment was conducted to determine the damage threshold of the sample and verify the validity of the Z-scan experimental data for the sample. The comparison of optical limiting experimental data between [MoS4Cu4I2(py)6] doped in PMMA and C60 dissolved in toluene manifested the former's powerful optical limiting performance.
