Abstract
Bi-functional laser and non-linear optical crystals (second and Raman third order optical non-linearity) lead to simple, compact and robust devices. Recent results of new self-frequency conversions from UV to infrared range of wavelengths are summarized. We review the relevant properties of the different crystals used, including growth methods. The interest of working out of the principal planes in bi-axial crystals is also pointed out. New crystals whose study is underway is additionally presented.
