Abstract
The single crystal of Ho3+ doped Sr3Y2(BO3)4 has been grown by the Czochralski method. The absorption spectrum, fluorescence spectrum, and fluorescence decay curve of the crystal were measured at room temperature. The fluorescence spectrum in the range of 450-800 nm is dominated by 5F5â5I8 and 5S2, 5F4â5I8 transitions. According to the Judd-Ofelt theory, the intensity parameters Ωt (t = 2, 4, 6) were calculated, and the spontaneous transition probabilities, fluorescence branching ratios and radiative lifetimes were obtained. The fluorescence lifetime of the 5F5â5I8 transition for Ho3+ : Sr3Y2(BO3)4 crystal is about 57 ns.
