Abstract

Cadmium sulfide stable colloidal dispersions in hexane, toluene and toluene solution of polystyrene or polyepoxypropylcarbazole have been obtained by the interphase interaction of cadmium oleate and sodium or hydrogen sulfide dissolved in organic solvent and water, respectively. The effect of the precipitant nature and starting molar ratio Cd2+/S2− on the properties of the dispersions have been investigated. CdS nanoparticles exhibited relatively uniform size distribution at about 3 nm and crystal cubic structure. The optical properties of the dispersions have been studied by absorption spectroscopy and photoluminescence.
