Abstract
Spectroscopic studies of NaF:U,Cu bulk and fiber crystals have been performed in the near UV-vacuum UV (2–25 eV) region by the use of synchrotron radiation. Emission, excitation and reflectivity spectra have been recorded. The important role of Cu+ ions in the uranium luminescence and energy transfer mechanisms was pointed out. Differences in luminescence properties of bulk crystals and crystalline fibers have been observed and analyzed.
