Abstract
Sr4Al14O25 phosphors were synthesized by solid-state reaction method by mixing 4SrO and 7Al2O3 with a flux (H3BO3). Crystalline phases depended on the amounts of H3BO3, and a single phase of Sr4Al14O25 was synthesized by adding 80 mol% H3BO3. Photoluminescence and cathodoluminescence properties of Sr4Al14O25:Eu and Sr4Al14O25:Ce phosphors were investigated. In PL spectra, Eu doped Sr4Al14O25 phosphors exhibited a greenish blue emission band at 495 nm (λex: 390 nm), while Ce doped Sr4Al14O25 showed a UV emission at 400 nm (λex: 350 nm) and short stoke shift. CL spectra also exhibited same emission bands with PL. Both Ce and Eu doped Sr4Al14O25 phosphors were activated at the low accelerating voltages of 200–300 V.
