Abstract
We present the high pressure photoluminescence study of Lu2SiO5:Ce3+ in the pressure range up to 32 kbar, with pressure applied in sapphire anvil cell supplied. We have observed the red pressure shift of the Ce3+ emission equal to −11.3 cm−1/kbar for the 5d1 → F5/2 transition and −7.7 cm−1/kbar for 5d1 → F7/2 transition related to increase of the crystal field splitting of the 5d1 electronic configuration. We have found that local compressibility of Ce3+–ligands system of Lu2SiO5 is more than two times smaller than the bulk material compressibility.
