Abstract
This study addresses questions regarding the origin of morphology evolution during Ti anodization. The morphology evolution of anodic TiO2 has been investigated. It is found that voltage dictates the formation of etching pits, which in turn governs anodic TiO2 formation, including nanotube diameter and hexagonal features. It is demonstrated that the surface wettability of anodic TiO2 can be tuned from superhydrophilicity to superhydrophobicity by tailoring the microstructure.
