Abstract
The effects of aging on the shape memory properties of [1 1 1] oriented Ni45.3Ti29.7Hf20Pd5 single crystals were investigated under compression. Thermal cycling under stress and superelasticity experiments were conducted after 3 h aging at 550 and 600 °C and were found to be dependent on aging condition. Reversible strain of up to 2.2% and a work output of 33 J cm−3 were possible at an ultra-high stress level of 1500 MPa.
