Abstract
Fully dense microlaminated composite sheets consisting of alternating TiAl and TiB2-rich layers have been successfully manufactured using roll bonding and reaction annealing followed by an effective densification process. Compared with monolithic TiAl, the introduction of TiB2-rich layers significantly refined the lamellar microstructure of TiAl and thus the unique microlaminated TiB2–TiAl composite sheet possesses a higher elastic modulus, nanohardness and high temperature strength.
