Abstract
The role of deformed 〈1 1 0〉/RD orientations for the nucleation of the {3 1 1}〈1 3 6〉 component observed in recrystallization textures of ferrite steels is investigated. For the purpose of characterizing the plastic behaviour of 〈1 1 0〉//RD grains, a 60% cross-rolled IF steel was examined by high-resolution orientation scanning microscopy. The minute but relevant amounts of crystallite volume that rotated towards the {3 1 1}〈1 3 6〉 component in the deformed 〈1 1 0〉//RD grains revealed the occurrence of a fragmentation process that produced locally potent nucleation sites of recrystallization.
