Abstract

The effects of alloying and severe plastic deformation methods on the strength and ductility of Cu–Zn alloys were systematically investigated. Alloying decreased the grain size and increased the twinning capability. Changing from equal-channel angular press to high-pressure torsion decreased the grain size and improved the ductility. The effects on ductility are explained in terms of the different influences of grain size and twinning capability.
