Abstract
The fracture behavior of ultrafine-grained Ni produced by high-pressure torsion was examined. The fracture toughness estimated for different crack propagation directions was assessed with J-Integral, stretched zone width and crack tip opening displacement measurements. The results indicate an exceptionally good combination of strength and fracture toughness.
