Abstract
The tensile and compressive yielding of cast Mg–Zn alloys, with varying grain sizes and compositions ranging from 0 to 2.3 at.% Zn, are simulated using a polycrystal plasticity model. The results are used to determine the grain size and composition dependences of the critical resolved shear stresses (CRSS) of basal slip and tensile twinning.
