Abstract
In order to understand the overall elastic–plastic response during deformation, a representative volume element of random Al18B4O33 whisker-reinforced magnesium matrix composite was modeled and simulated using a random sequential adsorption algorithm and a three-dimensional finite-element method. The Young’s modulus and stress–strain behavior of the composite predicted by the model corresponded well with the experimental result.
