Abstract
Scanning transmission electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy have been utilized to investigate the distribution of Re in a single crystal nickel-based superalloy. Two types of distributions of element Re have been found near interfaces after creep tests, one in the γ phases, the other near dislocation cores. Re enrichment near dislocation cores is considered to strengthen the high-temperature performance of superalloys by hindering dislocation movement.
