Abstract
This study aims to determine the optimum processing parameters for developing bainitic + martensitic microstructure in SAE 52100 bearing steel through appropriate austempering and quenching schedule, and obtaining improved mechanical properties of interest. Following austempering, the microstructure was characterized by optical/electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction and correlated with hardness and tensile/impact strength.
