Abstract
A new model, recently developed by relating a modified form of the Garofalo’s equation and the concentration of aluminium in solid solution, has been used to describe the minimum creep rate dependence of applied stress and temperature for literature data obtained by testing an Mg–4Al–1Ca alloy in compression. The model successfully described the behaviour of the alloy, and also gave significant indications on the magnitude and effectiveness of the strengthening roles exerted by the different families of precipitates.
