Abstract
The room temperature plane strain channel die compression behavior of a 99.99% Al {1 1 0}<1 1 2> “brass” orientation embedded in a {1 1 0}<0 0 1> “Goss” orientation was compared to a deformed brass single crystal orientation. The average lattice position in the embedded brass orientation was found to rotate towards the “S” orientation, unlike the stable brass single crystal orientation. Interaction-induced activation of a secondary slip system in the embedded brass orientation was found to contribute to the texture instability.
